Together We Can Build A Better Futre
Internet connectivity, personal computing access, and online learning programs are ubiquitous in the US and developed economies. However, irrespective of demographics and socio-economic profiles, there is still a significant decline in new skills development and learning because of a lack of one-to-one engagement in skills training and adoption. GROUI volunteers saw an opportunity to teach young kids in elementary schools the core areas of logic and programming and introduced them to the world of early programming. In India's heart of bustling metros amidst the towering skyscrapers and the relentless hum of urban life, Samarth – the founder of GroUI- witnessed urban prosperity and a stark contrast of poverty. However, there was a remarkable spirit of resilience and innovation. The ingenious ways in which people adapted and thrived, their 'Jugaad'* culture, was a testament to their resourcefulness and determination.
GroUI has grown since. We have many members and volunteers. Our star volunteers are our senior citizens in India, recruited to provide one-on-one enrichment sessions with kids. We are fortunate to collaborate and work with PATANG (https://www.patangindia.org/), whose mission is akin to ours - empowering young people from disadvantaged communities to reach their full potential.
